Round Rock continues the season's penultimate home series with the third of four games against the New Orleans Zephyrs (Florida Marlins). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. game at The Dell Diamond. The split the series' first two games with the Zephyrs winning 7-5 last night. Round Rock owns the Pacific Coast League's best record over the last 10 games at 8-2; New Orleans is 7-3 in that time. The Express are 39-27 at The Dell Diamond, while the Zephyrs are 27-39 on the road.

This is the fourth and final series between the Express and Zephyrs. Round Rock leads the season series 8-6. The Express won three of four at New Orleans in mid-April, and the teams split a four-game series at New Orleans in late June. The teams also split a four-game series at The Dell Diamond in mid-July. SERIES NOTES: Only one of the 14 meetings was decided by more than four runs - a 15-6 Express victory July 19. LAST NIGHT'S GAMES
The Zephyrs scored seven runs in the first three innings, and the Express could not overcome the early hole in a 7-5 loss. Mike Cervenak's two-run double keyed a four-run top of the first for New Orleans. The Z's added two in the second and another in the third. Round Rock climbed back into the game with a run in the first, three in the third and one in the fourth but could get no closer. Val Majewski was 2-for-3 with a walk, a triple and two RBI. Leonys Martin was 3-for-5 with two runs scored.
MAGIC NUMBER: 4
Entering tonight's game, Round Rock's magic number for clinching the PCL American Southern Division title is four. The magic number represents the number of Express wins or Albuquerque losses necessary to clinch the division title. The earliest Round Rock can clinch the title is Aug. 23 vs. New Orleans. The Express would win the division title by winning only one game in each of their final three series.
ROUND ROCK OWNS PCL's BEST RECORD
The Express (77-52, .597) have the PCL's best record, one game ahead of Sacramento (76-53, .589). Round Rock snapped a five-game winning streak last night but has won eight of its last 10, a stretch that began with three straight wins at Sacramento. The Express are four-and-a-half games ahead of Omaha (72-56, .563) in the overall American Conference standings. Seven of 16 PCL teams are at or above .500, five of which are in the American Conference.
DIVISION STANDINGS UPDATE
Round Rock (77-52, .597) remained 12 games ahead of Albuquerque (65-64, .504) in the American Southern Division standings despite last night's loss. While the Express fell 7-5 against New Orleans, the Isotopes lost to Memphis 10-5. The Express are 19-9 since July 24, the league's best record in that time; the Isotopes are 11-17 in that stretch. Round Rock has at least shared the division lead following 107 of 129 games this season and has led the division outright since June 25. New Orleans (64-65, .496) trails Round Rock by 13 games and would be eliminated from postseason contention with a loss in either of the next two games. Oklahoma City (60-69, .465) is 17 games back and has been eliminated from postseason contention.
ROUND ROCK TRIPLE-A WINS RECORD WITHIN REACH
The Express already have surpassed win totals from five of the previous six seasons as a Triple-A team (since 2005). With 77 wins entering tonight's game, Round Rock needs to win eight of its final 15 games to match the 2006 squad's franchise record of 85 wins at the Triple-A level. As a member of the Double-A Texas League, Round Rock won 83 games in 2000, 86 games in 2001, 75 games in 2002 and 86 games in 2004.
TEAM RECORDS WATCH
Round Rock already has established franchise records (Triple-A era) for runs (759), RBI (729) and sacrifice flies (49). The Express also are on pace to break records in hits (need 37), doubles (need 21), home runs (need nine), total bases (need 35) and walks (need 17). Round Rock pitchers need 20 strikeouts to break the franchise mark and 52 to reach 1,000 for the season.
INDIVIDUAL RECORDS WATCH
Chad Tracy needs one RBI to match Brooks Conrad (2006) for second on the Express single-season list. Tracy needs eight to match Mike Coolbaugh's 2005 record of 101. ¬Â¦ Esteban German needs 19 hits to match Mark Saccomanno's 2008 record (157). He also needs 14 runs to match Brooks Conrad's 2006 record (100) and one walk to match Brian Bogusevic's mark from last season (67). ¬Â¦ German has 42 stolen bases, eclipsing Josh Anderson' 2007 previous franchise record (40). German and Anderson are the only Express players to steal at least 30 bases in a season. ¬Â¦ Matt Kata has established an Express record with 11 sacrifice flies. ¬Â¦ Tracy has been hit by a pitch 12 times, breaking Kata's record 11 from last season.
