Round of 16 qualifiers announced for 2012 Latino del Año

NEW YORK - We're down to the Sweet 16.

After five days of group stage voting, fans have decided which players advance to the first knockout round of the 2012 Latino del Año, the competition that elects the top latino player in MLS as voted by the fans.

The top two finishers in each of the eight groups move on to the knockout stage and the ballots were dominated by MLS' Honduran contingent.

Sporting KC midfielder Roger Espinoza leads the overall voting and captured Group F with 66.69 percent of votes, followed by his fellow catrachos Boniek García (HOU), Jerry Bengtson (NE), Víctor Bernárdez and Marvin Chávez (SJ) who also all won their respective groups.

Here are the 16 qualifiers and how they match up in the Round of 16, which is now open for voting. Ballots close on Sunday, Nov. 18 at 11:59 pm ET with quarterfinal pairings unveiled on Monday, Nov. 19.
