CORPUS CHRISTI - Ryan Tatusko pitched seven shutout innings and was the beneficiary of three double plays as Frisco edged Corpus Christi 3-2 Saturday night before 5,638 at Whataburger Field.

The RoughRiders improved to 42-31 overall, 4-0 in the second half of Texas League play. The Hooks have lost five straight and stand 36-38, 0-4.

Frisco tagged Hooks starter Jeremy Johnson for three runs in the fourth. Renny Osuna drew a four-pitch lead-off walk and was bunted into scoring position as three-hole hitter Matt Lawson gave himself up on a sacrifice bunt. Taylor Teagarden's single to center plated Osuna.

The former Texas catcher scored from first when Joey Butler tripled off the wall in right-center with two out. Butler scored run No. 3 after Mitch Hilligoss dropped a single into shallow center.

Johnson escaped a bases-loaded dilemma with no damage the next inning. Jacob Kaase reached on an error by second baseman Barry Butera and Marcus Lemon's pop single to left put runners at first and second. Osuna's successful sacrifice bunt and an intentional pass to Lawson preceded a strikeout of Teagarden and ground out by Andy Jenkins.

Johnson (3-7) retired for the night with one gone and a runner on in the fifth. He permitted six hits, two walks and struck out six before handing the ball to Jailen Peguero.

Peguero, appearing in his record 85th Hooks game, made things interesting two frames later. Walks to Kaase and Osuna and Lemon's single filled the sacks. Peguero proceeded to strike out Lawson, Teagarden and Jenkins, Frisco's 3-4-5 hitters.

The Hooks snapped a 27-inning scoreless drought in the eighth at the expense of Kasey Kiker. J.B. Shuck walked, stole second and raced home on Marcos Cabral's single off the fully extended glove of Kaase at shortstop. Jimmy VanOstrand's single through the left side scored Cabral. Corpus Christi stranded two and RoughRiders manager Steve Buechele used four relievers - Kiker, Ben Snyder, Evan Reed and Josh Lueke - to get through the inning.

Lueke went on to notch his second save.

Tatusko (6-1) ran his personal scoreless innings streak against the Hooks to 16. He threw 98 pitches, allowed four hits, walked three and struck out two.

Corpus Christi pitching struck out a season-best 14.

Blake Beavan (9-4) toes the rubber Sunday against a to-be-named pitcher for the Hooks. The first 1,500 kids 12-&-under receive a Hooks retro jersey from Coca-Cola. Gates open at 4:30, first pitch 6:05.
