
RoughRiders' Sellers, Kaunisto Both Commit to Lake Superior State

Cedar Rapids, Iowa- Cedar Rapids RoughRiders forward Nik Sellers and defenseman Steven Kaunisto have both committed to Lake Superior State University, the RoughRiders announced today.
"We're very excited for both Nik and Steven," said RoughRiders coach and general manager Mark Carlson "They've come in and done a very good job of working hard every day and filling important roles for us."
Both Sellers and Kaunisto are in their first year with the RoughRiders after playing for the Soo Indians of the North American Hockey League last season.
Sellers, 19, has scored nine goals and totaled 17 points in 26 games with the Riders this season. Sellers is also tied for the league lead with four game winning goals.
Last season Sellers led the Indians in assists (37) and points (48) and finished seventh in the NAHL in assists. This season marks Sellers' return to the United States Hockey League- two years ago the Plymouth, Michigan, native skated in the USHL for the Danville Wings.
Kaunisto, also 19, has picked up eight assists in 26 games with the Riders this season. The Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, native arrived in Cedar Rapids after scoring one goal and totaling six points in 41 North American League games last season.
Lake Superior State is currently 10-6-2 overall and is in third place in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association with a 6-6-2 conference record.
Sellers and Steven Kaunisto join Phil Axtell (Michigan Tech), Aaron Bendickson (Wisconsin), Jacob Cepis (Bowling Green), Ray Kaunisto (Northern Michigan), Nick Grasso (Massachusetts), Ryan Gunderson (Minnesota State-Mankato), Andy Miele (Miami of Ohio), Ted Purcell (Maine), Alex Stalock (Minnesota-Duluth), Gary Steffes (Miami of Ohio), David Strathman (Northeastern) and Kevin Wehrs (Minnesota) as the thirteenth and fourteenth members of the 2005-06 RoughRiders to make college commitments.
The RoughRiders return to action Thursday night at 7:05 when the Green Bay Gamblers visit the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena.
Tickets for Thursday's game- and all remaining RoughRider home games- can be purchased in person at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena ticket office, over the phone at (319) 261-4625 or on line at www.roughridershockey.com. The ticket office is open from noon to 5:00PM on weekdays and from noon through the end of the second period on game days. Ticket prices range from $7 to $17 including a 50-cent facility fee.
