FRISCO, TX - The Frisco RoughRiders and Taylor Hooton Foundation are proud to present the 2009 "Hoot's Chalk Talk" presented by Leonard Davis Enterprises and Tye Williams Financial Services on Thursday, July 9 from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. at Dr Pepper Ballpark.

Frisco RoughRiders' players, strength & conditioning coach, and athletic trainer will be present to help instruct Dallas-area youths ages, 12-18, on the significance of healthy living and the importance of staying active and away from drugs. Don Hooton, the President and Founder of the Taylor Hooton Foundation will also be present at Dr Pepper Ballpark for the event.

The clinic runs approximately two hours in length. The youngsters participating are divided into groups and rotate through a series of "stations": a "Hoot's Chalk Talk" with Don Hooton about the dangers of steroid abuse, a strength and conditioning station, an injury prevention station, and a Q&A station with the attending RoughRiders player(s). Each participant will receive a "Pledge Card" to sign (on the field during the game that evening) which will also be signed by a RoughRiders player. By signing the card, the participant promises to remain active, make healthy decisions and avoid performance enhancing drugs.

Already a staple at most major league ballparks, the Taylor Hooton Foundation is expanding its "Hoot's Chalk Talk" educational clinics by partnering with MiLB. The Taylor Hooton Foundation was established to protect the youth of America by eliminating performance enhancing drug use. The Foundation was formed in memory of Taylor Hooton, a 16-year old high school athlete from Plano. Taylor took his own life as a result of his abuse of anabolic steroids. Hoot's Chalk Talks is a baseball clinic and information session for young people where they will learn sound, ethical, scientific and proven methodologies employed by professional athletes in their training. In addition, professionals will instruct participants on alternatives to performance enhancing drugs.
