Frisco RoughRiders News Release
NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas - The Frisco RoughRiders were unable to overcome a late surge by the Arkansas Travelers on Wednesday, falling 6-2 at Dickey-Stephens Park.
Frisco (18-22) took a one-run lead on two occasions but Arkansas (26-15) canceled out both leads in the bottom half of each inning. The Travelers scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth to take their first and only lead of the game.
Ryan Garcia delivered another strong start for Frisco, with his second consecutive game allowing just one earned run. He struck out a season high eight batters and gave up just two hits.
Garcia allowed a double to the first batter of the game on a pop up that was lost in the sky. Garcia then did not allow a hit to the next 16 batters he faced. He walked two batters in the fourth inning and let a run come home on a sacrifice fly, but came back out for the fifth inning and ended his night with a scoreless frame.
Michael Brewer (0-1) was the first Frisco reliever; he entered with a one-run lead in the sixth inning but allowed three runs. Travis Kuhn (3-0) recorded two innings for Arkansas with one run allowed to collect the victory.
The RoughRiders struck first in the fourth inning, using a two-out rally with a Dustin Harris walk and a Thomas Saggese single. Harris scored on a balk.
Two innings later, Frisco retook the lead after Kellen Strahm doubled to the right field wall and later scored on Saggese's sac fly.
The third game of the six-game series is at 6:35 p.m. on Thursday, May 25, with RHP Owen White (1-1, 3.72 ERA) starting for Frisco. Arkansas will start RHP Emerson Hancock (4-1, 5.93 ERA).
Frisco's next home game is Tuesday, May 30 at 6:35 p.m. against the San Antonio Missions.
