Frisco RoughRiders News Release
The RoughRiders started the second half on a disappointing note as they fell Tuesday night at Midland 14-2. Eric Hurley (7-2) received the loss as he lasted only four innings while giving up a season-high eight runs. The Rockhounds hit six homers against Frisco pitching including two by Landon Powell and a grand slam by Brant Colamarino.
Hurley gave up a two-run home run in the very first inning to make the score 2-0, but the âRiders rebounded with two runs in the third on four consecutive hits. Anthony Webster singled and scored on a Casey Benjamin double. German Duran followed with a double of his own to score Benjamin and make the score 2-2, but that was as close as the âRiders would get as Midland scored 12 unanswered runs.
In his four innings of work, Hurley allowed nine hits including four home runs. He struck out three, but also walked three. The Frisco bullpen struggled as well as Brandon Puffer and Scott Shoemaker each surrendered three runs.
The Frisco offense was led by Webster and Jim Fasano who both went 2-for-4 on the night. Steve Murphy kept his hit streak alive at 15 consecutive games with a single in the third.
The âRiders will look to rebound Wednesday against the Rockhounds as they send Doug Mathis (6-4) to the mound against Midland's Mario Ramos.
