
Roughnecks to Face Chicago Fire on Saturday

The competition level takes a step up this weekend for the Tulsa Roughnecks FC. On Saturday, the Roughnecks will face their Major League Soccer affiliate, the Chicago Fire, in an early afternoon contest at Toyota Park in Bridgeview, Illinois. Kickoff is slated for 12:00 p.m. at the home of the Fire.The match will be available for live viewing online at Chicago-Fire.com.
It will be the fourth match of the preseason for the Roughnecks, and the second against professional competition. TRFC is 2-0-1 in preseason, with victories over the University of Tulsa and Oral Roberts University and a 2-2 draw with the Swope Park Rangers.
The match marks the second straight year that the Roughnecks have faced the Fire in the preseason. Last year, Tulsa recorded a 2-1 closed-door win against a squad of Fire players. The two sides began their MLS/USL affiliation prior to last season.Â
The Roughnecks will likely face a strong side as it will be the final preseason match for the Fire who will open MLS regular season play on March 10 against TRFC is two weeks from its USL regular season opener. Tulsa will travel to San Antonio next Saturday for its final preseason tune up before opening the regular season in Oklahoma City against the Energy on Saturday, March 17 in the first edition of the 2018 Black Gold Derby.
