Calgary Roughnecks News Release

The Calgary Roughnecks defeated the Columbus Landsharks 11-7 thanks in part to five-straight fourth quarter goals in front of 10,149 Friday night at the Pengrowth Saddledome.

The Roughnecks started the game by scoring their eighth straight goal --- following seven straight to come back to beat Vancouver on Sunday afternoon --- and Curtis Palidwor stretched his streak to 25 minutes and 40 seconds before Columbus scored to break the scoreless streak en route to the club's third straight win.

Curtis Palidwor, who was named the National Lacrosse League's Defensive Player of the Week earlier this week, continued his strong play in the Roughnecks nets turning away 36 Columbus shots to run his record to 5-3 on the season.

Roughnecks forward Sean Cable was named the Player of the Game, on the heels of a hat trick to lead Roughnecks scorers. "Sean has really broke out for us over the last few games, you can see his confidence growing every time he touches the ball," said Roughnecks captain Tracey Kelusky.

The win makes five on the season for the Roughnecks and marks a franchise high, following the club's disappointing 4-12 record last season.

"We're really coming together as team of late, our systems are clicking and I think we will continue to get stronger as time goes on," said Roughnecks head coach, Chris Hall. The Roughnecks now head on the road for games in Colorado - on February 14 and to Toronto take on the Northern Division leading Toronto Rock on Friday, February 28.

The Roughnecks return to the friendly confines of the Pengrowth Saddledome on Sunday, March 2 to battle the New York Saints.
