Roughnecks Reacquire Wide Receiver Jimmy Conner

MIDLAND, TX. : The West Texas Roughnecks are excited to announce on Friday, March 26 that the organization has reacquired wide receiver Jimmy Conner for the 2010 season. Conner is scheduled to join the team on Friday evening and he will play in the Roughnecks upcoming road game versus the Amarillo Venom on Saturday, March 27.

Conner (5'11", 190 lbs.) will be entering his third season with the Roughnecks in 2010 following an impressive 2009 campaign in which he was selected to the Offensive All-IFL Second Team. In 2009, Conner led the Indoor Football League with 90 receptions and led the Roughnecks receiving core with 1,123 yards. Conner also led the IFL with 2,471 all-purpose yards and finished first in the IFL by averaging 176.5 all-purpose yards a game. Conner was second in the league by averaging 80 receiving yards a game and averaging six receptions a game. Conner posted eight touchdown receptions in 2009 and registered 1,340 kick return yards for the Roughnecks.

"Jimmy has been one of the most consistent and talented receivers that we have had in this organization. He will be a leader in our receiving department and a leader in the locker room. I'm excited that he has decided to return to the Roughnecks and he will become an important asset to our passing game." stated West Texas Roughnecks Head Coach Chris Williams.

In his first season with the Roughnecks in 2008, Conner led the Roughnecks with 62 receptions and finished second on the team with 810 receiving yards. Conner additionally posted 18 touchdown receptions in 2008 and posted 1,501 kick return yards with one touchdown. Conner led the former Intense Football League by averaging 180.5 all-purpose yards a game. Conner played collegiately at the University of Central Missouri where he earned All-MIAA Conference honors twice. During his senior season, Conner caught 31 passes for 502 yards and three touchdowns. He averaged 12 yards a return on punt and kickoff returns, and totaled 324 yards with a touchdown that same year. Conner spent the 2006 season with the Green Bay Blizzard formerly of the AF2.
