SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Tony Rosselli smacked the go-ahead home run in the eighth inning as the Chicago Dogs defeated the Sioux Falls Canaries, 2-1, for their ninth straight win on Sunday afternoon at Sioux Falls Stadium.

Luke Westphal delivered another spectacular start, allowing four hits and two walks and striking out seven over six shutout innings, bringing his league-leading strikeout total to 83.

Two of the best pitchers in the Association in Westphal and Taylor Hill (L, 6-3) went toe-to-toe, and the matchup did not disappoint. Through six innings, no runs, six hits and 11 strikeouts piled up between the two starters. Hill went all nine innings in the loss.

Josh Goossen-Brown (W, 2-3) came on in relief of Westphal in the seventh and surrendered a two-out solo homer to Canaries catcher Graham Low to make it 1-0, but limited the damage with a flyout to end the frame.

The Dogs continued the late-inning heroics that have been a theme in the series, again off the bat of Rosselli. The Dogs left fielder cranked his second home run in as many nights over the left field wall, a two-run shot to give Chicago a 2-1 lead in the eighth.

Casey Crosby then delivered a hitless, scoreless eighth. It marked the fourth consecutive hitless, scoreless outing from the former major leaguer.

Kyle Halbohn closed out the Canaries in the ninth for his eighth save of the season, wrapping up a third consecutive one-run win.

The Dogs continue their road trip with three games starting on Monday against the Sioux City Explorers before getting a day off on Thursday.
