Quad Cities River Bandits News Release

One week after River Bandit outfielder Oscar Taveras brought home Midwest League Player of the Week honors, right-handed hurler Trevor Rosenthal gets recognized as the league's Pitcher of the Week for July 18-24.

Rosenthal worked 8 2/3 innings against the Lake County Captains on Friday, July 22 and allowed only one unearned run on just one hit. He walked one and fanned eight in the winning effort. It was the fewest hits he had allowed in any start with more than five innings of work.

The Cardinals selected Rosenthal in the 21st round of the 2009 June Draft out of Cowley County Community College in Kansas. The righty is 4-7 with a 3.29 ERA in 16 starts this season. He has held opponents to just a .223 average over 90 1/3 innings pitched. Rosenthal was also named the starting pitcher for the West Division All-Stars in the 2011 Midwest League All-Star Game held at Modern Woodmen Park back on June 21.

This is the third time this season a River Bandit has received a weekly honor. Besides Taveras, left-hander Anthony Ferrara was named Pitcher of the Week to close out April.

UP NEXT: The River Bandits are back in the playoffs for the second straight year. Ticket prices for postseason games remain the same as regular season tickets.
