Gary SouthShore Railcats News Release
GARY, IN - Charle Rosario pitched longer than he ever had on the way to 3-0 win at US Steel Yard. The Gary SouthShore RailCats' (10-11) ace allowed just four hits to prevent a sweep by the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks (11-8).
Rosario (3-1) shined in the sun during a day game in front of 2,888 fans for his first career complete game. He used 111 pitches and six strikeouts to blank the RedHawks. Richie Morowski (1-1) is charged with the loss for Fargo after he gave up two runs in 4.1 innings.
The RailCats, who had just 11 hits in the first two games of the series, gave Rosario run support with eight hits. They broke through for the first time in the fourth inning off of base hits by Jose Sermo and Alex Crosby. Sermo came across for the run after an error by second baseman Ryan Pineda who was trying to turn a double play.
Gary SouthShore added another run the next inning when Matt Hibbert scored on a Tillman Pugh base hit. The RedHawks hit Matt Hibbert with a pitch twice in the game.
The offense was able to provide one more insurance run in the eighth off a Jeremy Hamilton walk, Crosby single and Gonzalez sacrifice fly.
Gonzalez threw out a runner for the 13th time this season, improving his caught stealing percentage to 50 percent. Crosby and Gonzalez had multi-hit days for the Cats with Gonzalez adding two RBIs.
The win improved the RailCats to 6-1 in day games. The team is off on Thursday ending a streak of 21 games without a day off.
The RailCats are back in action on Friday to host a series with the Sioux City Explorers. First pitch is at 7:10 and radio coverage begins at 6:45 on 95.9 WEFM and railcatsbaseball.com.
