'NUTS RALLY LATE AGAIN

After erasing a four-run deficit to win in extra innings on Monday, the Wingnuts rallied from a late deficit again to pick up a 7-6 win over the Kansas City T-Bones Tuesday night at CommunityAmerica Ballpark. Kansas City jumped out to an early lead, plating three in the opening inning. The lead did not last long, as Harrison Kain singled in one and Leo Vargas homered for the second straight day to tie it. The T-Bones quickly regain the lead however, and Wichita was down 6-4 entering the eighth, when newcomer Martin Medina drew a walk that began the rally. A base hit and another walk later, the bases were loaded for Kain who brought the Wingnuts within a run with a fielder's choice. Vargas then followed with a single to tie the game at six. After Frankie Reed stranded a runner at third in the bottom of the eighth, Zack Cox started the ninth by drawing a walk. Two wild pitches later, he was on third for Brent Clevlen who put the Wingnuts back in front with a sacrifice fly. Reed then retired the T-Bones in order in the home half of the ninth to seal up Wichita's first series win of the 2016 season.

CLEVLEN, VARGAS LEAD WAY

Over the first two games of their series in Kansas City, Brent Clevlen and Leo Vargas have been a huge part of the Wingnuts two comeback victories. On Monday, Vargas got the ninth inning comeback started, launching a two-run shot for his first professional long ball. Clevlen tied the game with two outs in the frame, hitting a two-run homer of his own. Last night, Vargas hit a two-run homer in the third to tie the game at three apiece, and ended up with three hits on the night, the last of which was his RBI single in the eighth which evened the score at 6-6. Clevlen also homered for the second straight game last night, and came through with the go-ahead sacrifice fly in the ninth that put Wichita up for good.

REED LEADS BULLPEN

The Wichita bullpen has been dominant so far in this series, allowing just two runs in 13 innings, including four scoreless frames last night. Frankie Reed has led the relief corps, firing five shutout innings over the first two games, including a pair last night to help him collect his second win of the season.
