Round Rock Express News Release

ROUND ROCK, Texas - The Texas Rangers announced Monday that they have purchased the contract of INF Adam Rosales from the Round Rock Express, optioned INF Luis Sardinas to Round Rock and sent Express RHP Cory Burns to Tampa Bay on a waiver claim. Rosales will be available for the Rangers Monday night in Baltimore, while Sardinas will be active for the Express in New Orleans.

Rosales, 31, had spent the entire season with Round Rock, batting .276 (75-for-272) with seven homers and 43 RBI in 72 games. He was with the Rangers at the end of the 2013 season and entered spring training on the 40-man roster before being designated for assignment on March 30. Rosales has spent parts of six seasons at the major league level, batting .219 (180-for-821) with 20 home runs and 80 RBI.

Sardinas, 21, began the season with Double-A Frisco before receiving his first big league promotion on April 19. In 26 games with Texas, the switch-hitting infielder batted .288 (19-for-66) with six extra-base hits and nine RBI. Entering the season, Baseball America considered Sardinas the Rangers' #7 prospect and the top defensive infielder in the system.

Burns, 26, converted 20 saves for the Express in 2013 to lead the team, but had struggled this season. In 20 appearances with Round Rock, the right-hander was 2-2 with a 7.44 ERA (27 ER/32.2 IP).

With these moves, Round Rock's active roster sits at 25 with two players on the disabled list and one on rehab.
