September 20, 2011 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Providence Bruins News Release
Providence, RI - The Boston Bruins rookies shined in the first annual Black and Gold Game in front of a sold out crowd of 11,400 at the Dunkin' Donuts Center on Tuesday night. Alexander Khokhlachev led the scoring with two goals, and Ryan Spooner, Lane MacDermid, and Daniel Paille each added a goal.
Rookie Khokhlachev opened the scoring at 6:11 of the opening frame off a pass from veteran defenseman Dennis Seidenberg to give the Black Team a 1-0 lead. Tim Thomas was solid between the pipes, stoning any scoring opportunities from the White Team, securing the Black Team's one-goal lead going into the first intermission.
The White Team rookies wouldn't be out-done, as Spooner lit up Thomas off a feed from Craig Cunningham and Marc Cantin at 8:06 of the second. Despite multiple scoring opportunities, neither Black nor White could find the back of the net and the teams went into the second intermission tied at one.
MacDermid opened the scoring in the third frame, sliding a goal through Michael Hutchinson's pads at 5:01. Tyler Seguin and Matt Bartkowski assisted on the play. The Black Team continued to crash the net and Paille lit the lamp off an assist from Colby Cohen and Chris Clark at 6:23. Khokhlachev tallied his second goal of the night at 9:08 off a feed from Kirk MacDonald and Cohen at 9:08 to give the Black Team the 4-1 win.
