
Rookie Zach Keenan Named American Association Pitcher of the Week

SIOUX FALLS, South Dakota - RHP Zach Keenan has earned American Association Pitcher of the Week in his first as a professional, the league has announced.
Keenan, who just made his pro debut June 14 against Lake Country, tossed 13 innings over two starts and allowed just three runs on 14 hits with three walks and nine strikeouts to begin his pro career.
Keenan, 23, pitched a quality start in his debut, allowing three runs over six innings. In his second start, he went seven scoreless innings in Lincoln's 7-0 win over Winnipeg on Sunday afternoon.
The right-hander is a product of Middle Tennessee State University, where he pitched with fellow Saltdog David Zoz. Over five years, Keenan went 12-14 with a 4.65 ERA in 65 appearances and 43 starts. In 265.1 collegiate innings, Keenan had a 2.6 BB/9 ratio and averaged 8.3 strikeouts per nine innings.
He is the third Saltdog to win the award this year, joining four-year Saltdog Kyle Kinman and ex-MLBer Buddy Baumann.
The 'Dogs are 18-14 to start the year, and after a day off Monday they'll begin a three-game series with the Sioux Falls Canaries on the road Tuesday.
