June 21, 2005 - Canadian American League (Can-Am)
New Haven County Cutters News Release
Mike LaRosa, a slick-fielding second baseman from West Chester University in Pennsylvania, has been signed by the New Haven County Cutters. He was named Easton Sports Division II defensive player of the year in 2003.
In addition to being named the premier fielder in Division II, LaRosa was named to the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference All-Conference team in each of his four years at school.
LaRosa's name pops up frequently on the college's all-time leaderboard. He is the career leader in hits at West Chester with 234, while posting the seventh highest batting average ever at .362. His 166 runs scored are second highest in school history.
Left-handed reliever Sean Kramer was released to make room for LaRosa.
In other roster news, outfielder Mike O'Keefe of Hamden has been reactivated from the disabled list, while infielder/outfielder Vinny Esposito has been placed on the DL. A hand injury kept O'Keefe sidelined this past week, while Esposito has struggled with a reoccurring quad injury.
SpongeBob Promotion Added
The Cutters have added to their promotion schedule by announcing SpongeBob SquarePants will be at Yale Fiend for the Cutters game against the New Jersey Jackals on Saturday, July 16.
The zany star of the hit Nickelodeon show and movie will participate in many of the promotions that take place during the game and will interact with fans throughout the day.
The Cutters host the North Shore Spirit for a three-game series this weekend, starting Friday at 7:05. Tickets can be purchased online at www.CuttersBaseball.com, at the Yale Field box office or by calling 203-777-5636.
