QUEBEC 8, GRAYS 1 *Game 1 @ Quebec City, Que. Time: 1:45 W: Julien Tucker (3-0) L: Brad Esarey (1-2) S: None HR: QUE - Eddie Lantigua (10), Olivier Lepine (2) GRY - Francisco Lebron (5)

Eddie Lantigua homered and drove in three to lead les Capitales past the Grays, 8-1 in the first game of a doubleheader. Lantigua finished 2-for-2 in the seven-inning contest, and came away with his tenth homer of the year. Olivier Lepine also homered and drove in three for the Caps. Julien Tucker improved to 3-0 with the win, allowing just one run on two hits, striking out four. Coogie Freedman pitched a perfect seventh to seal the win for Quebec.

GRAYS 4, QUEBEC 2 *Game 2 @ Quebec City, Que. Time: 1:43 ATT: 3,420 W: Jodie Kennedy (2-2) L: Rick Kirsten (0-2) S: Randy Rapp (2) HR: None

The Grays got payback for Quebec's Game 1 victory, winning Game 2 of the doubleheader 4-2. Jodie Kennedy held the powerful Capitales' offense to just two runs on three hits over five innings, earning his second win. RF Mark Burke doubled, drove in a run and scored for the Grays, as did 3B Larry Best. Best also stole his eighth base of the year. DH Willie King had a pair of singles, the only mutli-hit performance on either team. Randy Rapp got his second save, surrendering no runs over two innings of work.

NEW HAVEN 4, NEW JERSEY 2 @ Little Falls, NJ. Time: 2:38 ATT: 1,517 W: Rolando Valles (2-2) L: Brad Whitworth (2-2) Save: Willy Espinal (1)HR: NJ - John Lindsey (5)

Rolando Valles provided a quality start for New Haven, scattering nine hits over seven and a third innings in the Cutters' 4-2 win over New Jersey. Valles struck out three and yielded just two earned runs on the evening, improving to 2-2. RF Orlando Encarnacion was 3-for-3 for the Cutters, and CF Keto Anderson doubled and drove in two. 1B John Lindsey hit his fifth homer for New Jersey in the loss.

WORCESTER 2, ELMIRA 1 @ Worcester, Mass. Time: 2:36 ATT: 2,052 W: Ed Riley (3-0) L: Michael Howell (2-2) S: Dave Byard (4) HR: Yohanny Valera (4)

Yohanny Valera homered and drove in a run on a sac pop foul, giving the Tornadoes all they'd need to beat Elmira 2-1. Ed Riley got the win, allowing just a run on four hits over five innings, and improved to 3-0 on the season. The bullpen was outstanding for Worcester, as Eddie Pena and Dave Byard each pitched two scoreless innings. Byard earned his fourth save, allowing no hits and one walk.

BROCKTON 14, NORTH SHORE 5 @ Lynn, Mass. Time: 3:06 ATT: 3,151 W: Manny Tejada (3-3) L: Wayne Hedden (0-2) S: None HR: BRK - Guye Senjem (4) NS - Travis Oglesby (6), Stephen Carter (1), Garrett Weir (1)

The Rox were merciless, piling on 16 hits to beat North Shore 14-5. DH Guye Senjem drove in three, and his two-run homer in the third made it 5-0 for Brockton. 1B Craig Lewis was 3-for-5 with a double and two RBIs, and starting pitcher Manny Tejada limited the Spirit to just three runs on nine hits over seven and a third innings pitched. DH Travis Oglesby was 2-for-5 with a homer and two RBIs for the Spirit, and also pitched two innings with little success, giving up three runs on three hits.
