DES MOINES -The Iowa Barnstormers continued to build their 2012 roster today as Head Coach and Director of Football Operations Mike Hohensee announced that the team has agreed to terms with rookie Linebacker Darnell Carter.

Carter (6-3, 245) played his college football at the University of Virginia from 2006-2010. Last season as a senior, he had a breakout year, appearing in all 12 games, starting the final six. He finished second on the team with 8 tackles for loss and 3 sacks, while accumulating 52 total tackles on the season. He had his best day against conference rival Maryland, where he racked up 9 tackles and a sack. The Englewood, NJ native was recruited out of Dwight Morrow High School where he was a state all-star at both Tight End and Linebacker.

Carter will be among a group of 35 players that report to the Barnstormers training camp this February to compete for a spot with the club.
