October 12, 2011 - Arena Football League (AFL)
Spokane Shock News Release

Spokane, WA: The Spokane Shock announced today that *QB Erik Meyer has been added to the 2012 roster.* Meyer, who was acquired in a mid-season trade with Utah last year, completed 75% of his passes (80/107) for 967 yards and 22 touchdowns with only three interceptions in five games.

"There is no question that this is a QB-driven league and Erik is one of the best in the game," Head Coach Andy Olson said. "He showed complete command of the offense last year. We expect him to continue to improve his game and assert himself as one of the best in the AFL. Quarterbacks with Meyer's abilities and experience are at a premium in this league and that's why it was important to bring him back."

Spokane's offense scored on 34 of Meyer's 39 drives (87%) last season.

Meyer, 6-1 215, was a member of Spokane's 2010 ArenaBowl XXIII Championship roster and spent most of the season serving as the backup QB. In two games in 2010, Meyer completed 64% of his passes (18/28) for 274 yards with five touchdowns and only one interception.

Prior to his AFL career, Meyer also gained experience in the NFL, NFL Europe, and the CFL. A Walter Payton Award winner, Meyer passed for 10,261 yards with 84 touchdowns at Eastern Washington University.

Meyer becomes the seventh player from the 2011 roster to return to Spokane and the 24th overall addition to the 2012 roster. For 2012 ticket information, contact the Spokane Shock Ticket Office at 509 242 7462.
