Rojas, Wilson Homer But BlueClaws Fall 6-2 in Brooklyn on Saturday

BROOKLYN, NY - Johan Rojas and Ethan Wilson each homered but the BlueClaws fell in Brooklyn on Saturday night 6-2 to the Cyclones. Brooklyn has taken four of five in the series and the first two games since the season flipped to the second half.

Jersey Shore falls to 25-43 on the year while Brooklyn improves to 32-36.

Rojas opened the scoring in the first inning with his third home run of the season as the second batter of the game.

- Jersey Shore BlueClaws (@BlueClaws) June 25, 2022 Brooklyn, however, responded with two runs, both on a Tanner Murphy single, off Ben Brown in the bottom of the first inning. Shervyn Newton singled home a run in the fourth, and was followed by Matt Rudick, who singled home two more to put the Cyclones up 5-1.

Ethan Wilson hit his fourth home run of the year in the top of the sixth to cut the lead to 5-2, but that was as close as the BlueClaws would get.

Brown (2-5) took the loss, allowing five runs, three earned, over five innings of work.

Cyclones starter Garrison Bryant (3-1) earned the win, allowing two runs in six innings.

Rojas had three hits for the BlueClaws in the loss, his third three hit game of the season. He added his 32nd stolen base of the season, which was the 99th of his career.

JP Woodard and Andrew Baker each threw scoreless innings in relief for Jersey Shore.

The teams finish their series on Sunday at 2:00 pm.
