
Rogues Win 12-2 in Kitsap

SILVERDALE, WA - The Medford Rogues got back in the win column with a 12-2 victory at Kitsap this afternoon. A 13-hit attack, combined with a solid outing by Rogues starter Jake Lessel moved Medford to 2-3 on the season. The BlueJackets dropped to 2-3.
The Rogues scored two in the first with the help of two walks by Kitsap starter Spenser Watkins. Singles by LF Danny McNabb and a sacrifice fly by 3B Caleb Palensky brought the runs across.
The first home run in Rogues history was hit by Palensky in the third, a two-run shot over the right field fence. Later in the third OF Vince Ampi scored on a balk to bring the score to 6-0.
Medford added five more in the fourth led by two-run singles by 1B Matt Page and SS Brody Weiss. Three Rogues were hit by pitches in the inning.
The Rogues had 13 hits with McNabb (3-5) and Weiss (2-5) getting multiple hits. McNabb, Weiss and Page each had two RBI with Palensky knocking in three.
Lessel (1-0) got the win with 7 1/3 innings, giving up two runs and striking out six. RHP Jamie Flynn closed the eighth inning and RHP Jeff Hardy pitched a scoreless ninth. Watkins (0-1) took the loss for Kitsap. The teams meet again Monday for the rubber match of the series. Game time is 11 a.m.
