Bend Elks News Release
Bend, OR - Clay Gartner gave the Bend Elks 7 quality innings Friday night as the Bend Elks responded after dropping two straight in Walla Walla, beating the Kelowna Falcons by a 6-4 final. The Elks got a big night for Adam Grantham, playing outfield on the night as the Elks remain short-handed in the early proceedings of the season, and he responded by going 3-5 and scored twice in helping lead the Elks to victory. Gartner (1-0), from George Fox University, came up big for the Bend Elks in lasting 7 innings, helping to save a bullpen that has already seen extensive action early on in the season. Gartner surrendered four runs on six hits, walking one while striking out 4 Falcons. The Elks (2-3) will be back in action Saturday for Game 2 of the 3 game series against Kelowna, first pitch slated for 6:05.
