Medford Rogues News Release
MEDFORD, OR - In what was a tightly contested defensive battle, the Medford Rogues just managed to beat out the Cowlitz Black Bears for a 4-3 win tonight at Harry and David Field. With the win, the Rogues now lead the three game series against the Bears 2-0 and are sitting with a 9-3 record in the South Division of the West Coast League. Medford moves to 9-3 on the season and remains a game ahead of Corvallis.
Pitcher Jeff Hardy (1-0) had an outstanding night for the Rogues as he pitched seven innings of no-hit ball, giving up only a walk to go with eight strikeouts. He was replaced after reaching 93 pitches but earned the win. Hardy's earned run average for the season sits at a steady 1.90.
On offense, third baseman Adonis Morrison was the Rogues leader with three at bats, two hits, and three RBI's. Morrison has been solid at the plate for the Rogues so far this season and now holds the team highest batting average at .462.
There were 2,529 fans in attendance for the Rogues, a majority were in association with either the Grange Co-Op, Harry & David or the Phoenix-Talent Little League Association. It was the second promotional bobble head night for the Rogues, with the Grange Co-op Mascot Floyd being given to the first 1,000 fans through the gates. For Little League, it was a big night as the association raised over $3,000 and were presented with a check at the beginning of the game.
The Rogues face off against the Bears for a final time tomorrow night at 6:35p.m. at Harry and David Field.
