
Elks Pitching Dominates Bellingham

Strong pitching performances from Elks starting pitcher Austin Guzzon and reliever Jesse Pratt helped the Elks defeat the Bellingham Bells at Joe Martin Field in Bellingham Friday night by a score of 2-1. Guzzon pitched 5.2 innings giving up only 3 hits and one run while striking out 9 of the usually potent Bells lineup. Pratt came in in the 6th and finished the game, keeping the Bells hitless as he struck out 5 and did not walk a single batter.It was Pratt's first win of the season. The Elks bats came alive in the 8th when lead off hitter Jake Peeveyhouse singled and eventually scored before pinch runner Nick Lopez crossed the plate curtsey of a balk by reliever Hever Bueno. Bells starting pitcher Aaron Sandefur took the loss after pitching 7.1 innings giving up only 3 hits and both earned runs to the Elks. The Elks are now 2-2 on the 9 game road trip.The second game of the three game series with the Bells will be Saturday night in Bellingham. The game can be heard at bendelks.com.
