Calgary Stampeders News Release
The Calgary Stampeders have re-signed international receiver Eric Rogers to a two-year contract.
Rogers is in his second stint with the Red and White and is a two-time Grey Cup champion as a member of the Stampeders.
After a two-year absence to pursue an NFL opportunity and recover from a knee injury, Rogers rejoined the Stamps in training camp prior to the 2018 season. He played nine regular-season games and made eight starts, recording 36 catches for 499 yards and five touchdowns. Rogers had a pair of 100-yard games - in Toronto in Week 2 and at home against Montreal in Week 6 - and he was second on the club with 21 receptions to convert second downs.
The California Lutheran University alum was a standout in the Western Final as he had six catches for 61 yards and a franchise-playoff-record three touchdowns to help the Stamps defeat Winnipeg. Despite playing with a knee injury, Rogers added six receptions - including three second-down conversions - for 64 yards in Calgary's Grey Cup victory over Ottawa.
The big-game success continues a career trend for Rogers, who has 27 catches for 481 yards and eight touchdowns in six post-season games for the Stamps.
"When Eric is on the field, he's a game-changing receiver," said Stampeders president and general manager John Hufnagel. "He battled through knee problems to make very important contributions for us last season. We expect that the knee will not be a significant issue for Eric in 2019 and that he will maintain his high level of play."
In 28 career regular-season games over three seasons with the Stamps, Rogers had 132 catches for 2,096 yards and 17 touchdowns. His 1,448 yards in 2015 is the highest single-season total for a Stamps receiver in the past 10 years.
