Spokane Shock News Release
June 26, 2007: Spokane, WA: The arenafootball2 league announced today that Spokane Shock DB Nygel Rogers was selected as the league's ADT Defensive Player of the Week for week 13.
Rogers led the team in total tackles (5.5), pass break-ups (4), and tied for the team-led in interceptions with two (DB Rob Keefe and Alex Teems also had two) in the Shock's 60-28 victory over the Boise Burn. Rogers returned both of his interceptions for touchdowns, accumulating 60 yards in returns.
"Nygel had a great game," Head Coach Adam Shackleford said. "He was in the right spots at the right time and that's a recipe for success."
Rogers is the second member of the Shock to be honored with a player of the week award this season. WR Antwone Savage earned the Schutt's Offensive Player of the Week award earlier this month for his performance in week 10.
Rogers and the Shock will travel to Fresno, CA for an important divisional match-up against the second-place Central Valley Coyotes. The Shock currently have a ½ game led in the division over the Coyotes. You can catch all of the action live on 105.7 THE BUZZARD with Larry Weir and Paul Sorenson on Saturday night at 7 PM.
