WAPPINGERS FALLS, N.Y. - A past-capacity crowd of 5,076 watched Major League rehabber Carlos Rodón strike out eight batters in 3.2 innings to help the Hudson Valley Renegades snap their seven-game losing streak with an 8-2 win over the Wilmington Blue Rocks on Saturday night at Heritage Financial Park.

In his third rehab start and first with Hudson Valley, Rodón allowed just one hit and walked two while throwing 58 pitches.

Zach Messinger (1-5) followed and went the next five frames, striking out nine and allowing two runs, earning his first win of the season. Clay Aguilar faced the final batter of the game and punched out Jeremy De La Rosa to end the contest. In total, Hudson Valley pitching tallied 18 strikeouts in the victory.

Hudson Valley scored first with a two-run second inning, highlighted by a Spencer Henson RBI double. Henson then scored on a throwing error by Blue Rocks starter Andrew Alvarez (4-2) on a comebacker hit by Grant Richardson.

After Rodón exited, the Renegades padded their lead with a three-run fifth. Alvarez began the frame retiring Spencer Jones before the next three men reached, including Christopher Familia who singled home Ben Cowles. A wild pitch tossed by Alvarez and a sacrifice fly from Alexander Vargas completed the scoring in the inning and Hudson Valley held a 5-0 advantage.

Both of Wilmington's runs came against Messinger in the sixth. The right-hander hit both Jose Sanchez and TJ White with pitches before Nick Shumpert singled home Sanchez. Darren Baker hit into a fielder's choice to drive home Wilmington's second run.

The Renegades polished off the scoring in the seventh with another three-run rally started by a pair of run-scoring singles from Familia and Vargas. Henson lifted a sacrifice fly to plate Familia and extend the 'Gades lead to 8-2.

All nine Renegades starters recorded a hit ,with Familia, Vargas and Henson each collecting multi-hit and multi-RBI games. The Renegades and Blue Rocks continue their series on Sunday afternoon at Heritage Financial Park. First pitch is scheduled for 2:05 p.m. with coverage on the Renegades Baseball Network beginning at 1:45 p.m. Hudson Valley will send RHP Juan Carela (2-3, 3.03) to the mound while the Blue Rocks will turn to RHP Rodney Theophile (0-3, 4.02).
