Rodriguez Named Batter of the Week

WICHITA, KS - Wichita Wingnuts' designated hitter John Rodriguez has been named the American Association's Batter of the Week for August 5th-11th.

In seven games last week, Rodriguez was 12 for 27 (.444) with three home runs and 13 RBI. The left-handed hitting slugger had at least one RBI in all seven contests and helped the Wingnuts go 6-1 to close out their 16-game road trip. Rodriguez has driven in a run in each of his last nine games overall (18 total RBI).

Rodriguez entered Monday tied for fourth in the American Association in batting average (.337), tied for fifth in home runs (17), and second in RBI (74). The 35-year-old Rodriguez is in his second season with the Wingnuts and owns the franchise's career RBI record (155).

Rodriguez is the Winguts' fourth Batter of the Week honoree this season and the sixth player to earn league accolades.
