Laredo- With the win the Grand Prairie AirHogs (43-37) have split the series and pulled to within a half-game of Laredo in the South Division winning Sunday night at Uni-Trade Stadium 6-0. The AirHogs were able to hold the Lemurs to two hits throughout the game with three pitchers allowing no hits at all. Gabriel Garcia pitched 7.1 innings of great baseball allowing only two hits and no runs. Garcia also struck out six Lemurs. Jakob Cunningham and Boomer Potts each faced a batter and allowed no hits and no runs. Patrick Mincey closed the game going a full inning striking out one and allowing no hits. It was a very impressive game for the entire pitching staff holding the South Division leaders to only two hits and no runs.
On the offensive side of the ball Brandon Pinckney went 2-for-4 scoring twice and driving in two runs. Andres Rodriguez went deep for his 12th home run of the year. Rodriguez went 2-for-5 in the game, scoring twice and driving in two runs. Both Austin Newell and Angel Flores went 1-for-3 Sunday night. Newell picked up an RBI while Flores scored once for the AirHogs. Chad Mozingo scored the other run in the game.
There is no rest for the AirHogs as they begin a four-game series with the Amarillo Sox Monday in Amarillo. The first game is set for 7:05 P.M. at Sox Stadium.
