Rodriguez Home Run Makes the Difference, Jackets Roll 1-0

North Augusta, SC - Ricardo Rodriguez got his barrel on the baseball in the 7th inning for a home run and the GreenJackets hung on in the ninth. James Acuna earned his first save of the year and Augusta beat the Charleston RiverDogs (Tampa Bay Rays) by a final of 1-0 on Tuesday.
It's the first nine inning shutout of the year for GreenJackets pitchers.
Darius Vines was brilliant in six innings of work. The former seventh round selection by the Atlanta Braves was dealing. Vines allowed just one hit and finished the evening with nine strikeouts. He walked only one RiverDog. Vines lowered his ERA to 1.89.
Willie Carter led an Augusta offense that had only four hits on the evening. It was the third consecutive multi-hit game for Carter.
After Rodriguez hit his 7th inning home run, Lisandro Santos came out and completed his second inning of work for Augusta. Two scoreless frames for Santos, in his first outing as a Jacket, and Augusta led 1-0 heading to the ninth. Acuna let two men reach base, but he'd strikeout Curtis Mead, and end the night by getting Heriberto Hernandez to fly out to center.
Santos earns the win in a game that took just two hours and 16 minutes.

* Darius Vines is still looking for his first professional win despite another great outing. * Willie Carter is now hitting .342 this season. * Braulio Vasquez stole two more bases. He leads the league with 19. He now has six multi-stolen base games this year.
