Rod Barajas to Rehab with BlueClaws

LAKEWOOD, N.J. - The Lakewood BlueClaws and Philadelphia Phillies have announced that catcher Rod Barajas will make three rehab appearances this weekend in Lakewood's series with the Hickory Crawdads (Pittsburgh).

Barajas, 32, was placed on the Phillies 15-day disabled list with a groin strain on August 3rd. He was hitting .214 with 4 HR and 9 RBI in 43 games at the time of his injury.

He was signed as a free agent in December of 2006 after spending the previous three seasons with Texas.

This will be the second Phillies player to rehab this season with Lakewood, after Ryan Howard spent May 23 and 24 with the BlueClaws. He hit a home run during a day game on the 23rd as part of a 7-4 BlueClaws win. Lakewood dropped the second game 8-6. He finished 2-6 with a HR, 2B, 4 RBIs and 2 BB and 2 Ks.

Barajas joins Wayne Gomes, Tim Worrell, Cole Hamels, Randy Wolf, and Howard as Phillies who have rehabbed with the BlueClaws.
