Rocks To Honor Naamans Little League Team on Friday

WILMINGTON, DE – The Wilmington Blue Rocks will welcome and honor the Naamans Little League All-Stars, the 2003 Mid-Atlantic Region champions and Little League World Series participant, on Friday, August 29. Each member of the team present will throw out a first pitch as part of the pre-game ceremony on the field prior to the Blue Rocks-Potomac Cannons game at 7:05 p.m.

The Naamans All-Stars went a combined 14-3 in the district, state, regional and World Series competition. The Delaware state champions earned a 7-3 victory over the Collegeville, PA Little League All-Star team to win the Mid-Atlantic region and became the first Little League team from Delaware to qualify for the World Series in Williamsport, PA.

The All-Star team, comprised of boys 11 and 12 years of age, went 1-2 in pool play at the 57th Little League World Series, defeating the team from Iowa, 8-7, while falling to Arizona, 5-1, and Texas, 7-1.

Naamans was one of 16 teams from around the United States and from around the World that qualified for the World Series. Other representative teams were: Tallmadge, OH; Saugus, MA; Richland, WA; East Boynton Beach, FL; Eldridge, IA; Richmond, TX; Chandler, AZ; Tokyo, Japan; Glace Bay, Nova Scotia; Willemstad, Curacao; Dhahran, Saudi Arabia; Moscow, Russia; Los Puertos, Venezuela; Mexico City, Mexico; and Agana, Guam.

The members of the Naamans Little League All-Stars who will be recognized on Friday are: Jared Carney; Kevin Czachorowski; Scott Dougherty; Cory Firmani; Constantine Fournaris; Danny Frate; Mike Julian; Zach Lopes; Tim Marcin; Dave Mastro; Vince Russomagno; Kip Skibicki; Joe Mascelli, manager; H.J. Lopes, coach; and Bob Waters, coach.
