The Frederick Keys (31-33, 57-73) scored five first inning runs en route to a 12-4 victory over the Lynchburg Hillcats (37-28, 75-56) at Lynchburg City Stadium on Tuesday, August 26. The win is the second in a row for the Keys.

Shaun Babula (7-1) got the win in relief for the Keys after pitching 3.0 shutout innings while surrendering just two hits. Starter Cory Morris went the first 4.0 innings and allowed four runs on four hits. He did not figure in the decision.

The Keys got started early offensively, scoring five runs in the first inning, although just two of those runs were earned off Hillcats starter Jose Luis Lopez (5-5). Lopez got the loss when he gave up seven runs (two earned) total through 4.0 innings.

Lynchburg cut the Keys lead to two with three runs in the bottom of the second inning, but the Keys would get a run in the 4th inning before exploding for six runs in the fifth. Designated hitter Doug Gredvig capped the big inning with his first home run with the Keys this season. The two teams would not score another run over the final four innings.

The Keys and the Hillcats meet for the final time this season on Wednesday, August 27 at Lynchburg City Stadium. The Keys will send LHP Kurt Birkins (7-10, 4.91) to the mound while Lynchburg will start RHP Bryan Bullington (7-4, 2.96). Game time for Wednesday's game is set for 7:05 p.m.
