
Rockies Purchase Contract Of Jackals' Vicaro

DURHAM, NC - The Can-Am League announced today that New Jersey Jackals RHP Mike Vicaro had his contract purchased by the Colorado Rockies. Vicaro is the third Jackal (Rusty Tucker, Hunter Davis) and the eighth league player to get his contract sold to a major league organization this season.
In 13 starts with New Jersey, Vicaro went 8-5 with an earned run average of 3.55. He had 81 strikeouts (fifth most in the league) in 88 2/3 innings pitched while allowing 34 walks and 62 hits. Vicaro also held opponents to a batting average of only .197. The Randolph, NJ resident was a Player of the Week recipient for July 9th - July 15th and was the Pitcher of the Month for July as well.
Vicaro is his second year of professional baseball. Last season with the Jackals, Vicaro went 1-0 with an ERA of 4.43 in 22 1/3 innings pitched.
