Grand Junction Jackalopes News Release

John Cresto homered twice as the Grand Junction Rockies won their sixth straight game, beating the Great Falls Voyagers 7-6 Monday night at Suplizio Field.

Cresto's homers were his first two of the season and helped stake the Rockies out to a 7-2 lead after four innings, but the Voyagers chipped away with a run in the sixth, and got back-to-back homers from Logan Sowers and Romy Gonzalez in the seventh to get within one. Jared Skolnicki stranded two runners after the home runs later in the inning to keep the lead, and after Moises Ceja faced the minimum in the eighth, Alexander Martinez worked around a 2-out single in the ninth for his ninth save of the season.

The win improves the Rockies to 20-17 on the season and they have now won eight straight games at home.

Ryan Rolison made his Suplzio Field and allowed two runs on five over four innings. He struck out five, and Jake Bird surrendered one run over two innings out of the bullpen, earning his third win. The Voyagers scored three runs off Wander Cabrera in the seventh.

To go with his two home runs, Cresto added another single, while Daniel Montano added three hits and two RBI. Will Golsan, Grant Lavigne, Coco Montes, and Zach Hall had two hit nights for Grand Junction.

The Rockies will look to tie their franchise record with a seventh straight win and close out the first half of the season Tuesday night in the finale against the Voyagers. The first pitch from Suplizio Field is set for 6:40.
