Rockford releases Keith Closs

February 1, 2005 - Continental Basketball Association 1 (CBA 1)
Rockford Lightning News Release

Rockford, IL- The Rockford Lightning have snagged three straight wins over first place teams over their last three games. But, Coach Daleo's focus is not only on success on the court, but off the court as well. For that very reason, the Rockford Lightning have announced the release of starting center Keith Closs.

During his time with the Lightning, Closs jumped to the league lead in blocked shots, finishing his stint with 101 blocks, averaging 4.4 per game. He also averaged 7.2 points and 7.0 rebounds per contest while with Rockford. He finished seventh in the league in offensive rebounds, averaging 2.4 offensive boards per game.

"We wish Keith the best of luck in his future endeavors but he is no longer a member of the Lightning. My team has to project a positive image on the Rockford community both on and off the floor. Keith has made some choices and I feel that it is the best interest of the team and the organization to let him go. Sometimes tough decisions are easy," says Lightning head coach Chris Daleo.

Rockford plays the second half of back-to-back home games Tuesday night against the Gary Steelheads. The Lightning and Steelheads last played back on January 12, with Gary edging out the Bolts 105-104 at the Genesis Center. Rockford hopes to continue to their fourth straight victory. All kids tickets will be half-price, and tip-off is set for 7:05 p.m. To get your tickets, call the MetroCentre box office at 815-968-5222.
