
Rockford rallies back to snap Storm streak

Rockford, IL-After sweeping two important road victories from the Dakota Wizards this past weekend, the Rockford Lightning put their rally caps on to defeat the Great Lakes Storm 123-121. The Lightning trailed Great Lakes by 20 at the end of the third quarter, but a 41-19 domination of the fourth gave Rockford the come from behind victory to snap Great Lakes' nine game win streak.
Ronnie Fields capped off the victory for the Bolts with a 29 point performance, including a momentum shifting lay-up with his back to the basket with less than a minute remaining. Fields scored 11 of his 29 points in the fourth quarter of the contest. Marshall Phillips contributed to the cause with a double-double, tallying 24 points and 12 rebounds for the Lightning. Keith Closs blocked four shots in the contest, which puts him past the century mark in blocked shots this season. Brant Bailey also earned a double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds in the Lightning win. Ezra Williams led the scoring for Great Lakes with 28 points in the loss. The Lightning earned four quarter points, as Great Lakes won the first three quarters of the contest.
Rockford plays the second half of back-to-back home games tomorrow night against the Gary Steelheads. The Lightning and Steelheads last played back on January 12, with Gary edging out the Bolts 105-104 at the Genesis Center. Rockford hopes to continue to their fourth straight win.
