Rockford IceHogs News Release
Muskegon, Mich.- For the second straight night the Rockford IceHogs dropped a 4-2 contest to a Central Division opponent. On Saturday it was the Muskegon Fury handing Rockford the two-goal loss, dropping the Hogs at the L.C. Walker Arena for the club's first two-game losing streak of the season.
The two teams traded goals in the first two periods before Muskegon grabbed the 3-2 advantage. The Fury opened the scoring with a 2-on-1 breakaway that ended with rookie winger David Wrigley burying a Rustyn Dolyny past Rockford goalie Michel Robinson. The Hogs responded with an odd-man rush of their own. Winger Jason Notermann flipped his team leading 11th goal of the season past Clayton Pool at 10:55 to tie the game at 1-1.
Muskegon took the lead, however, before the break. Dolyny was on the receiving this time at 19:00 to put the Fury up 2-1. In the second period, Rockford tied the contest once again after a Billy Tibbetts 5-on-3 power play tally at 3:18. But Muskegon responded, this time three minutes later when rookie Ryan Keller beat Robinson on a breakaway on the power play.
That's as close as Rockford would get while the Fury would add an empty netter to seal the game. Defenseman Dave Van Drunen's clear out shot ended up in Rockford's empty net at 19:54. The Hogs were out shot 29-24 and committed a season low two penalties for four minutes.
Next Home Game: Sunday, Nov. 27 vs. Quad City Mallards. The puck drops at 1:05 p.m. The first 500 kids 12-and-under will receive an IceHogs puck from Insurance King. Sunday is also another Family Four Pack Day. That's four tickets, four hot dogs and four soft drinks for only $48. Call (815) 968-5222 for tickets.
