
Rockford Aviators Begin 2015 Season 3-0; Home Opener Tonight

The Rockford Aviators completed a season opening sweep of the Gateway Grizzlies in emphatic fashion by defeating the Grizzlies 14-1 Sunday night at GCS Ballpark in Sauget, Il. The Aviators (3-0) combined seven hits and ten walks to score all 14 runs in the first three innings.
Greg Velazquez keyed the Aviators offensively with five RBI, three coming on a bases loaded double in the second that put Rockford ahead 8-0. Tanner Witt also generated two RBI on a pair of bases loaded walks and finished the game with four walks and three runs scored.
Righthander Kyle Hassna (1-0) pitched five shutout innings to record the victory in his season debut. Hassna allowed just two hits with two walks and four strikeouts. Lefthander Michael O'Neal (0-1) took the loss as he yielded eight runs in 1.2 innings on five hits and five walks.
The Aviators return for their home opener against the Traverse City Beach Bums Tuesday night (May 19, 6:35 pm) at Aviators Stadium in Loves Park, Il. Fans can order tickets by calling the Aviators office at 815-885-2255 or online at rockfordaviators.com. ###

Opening Day at Aviators Stadium will be Tuesday, May 19 at 6:35 p.m. as the Aviators host the Traverse City Beach Bums.
