Rockets Take 1-0 Series Lead Over Calgary Hitmen

Calgary, AB - The Kelowna Rockets won the special teams battle and took Game 1 of the Western Hockey League Championship Series Friday night beating the Calgary Hitmen 3-1.

Tyler Myers third period power play goal with just under 10 minutes remaining broke a 1-1 tie and lifted the Rockets to victory. Jamie Benn scored twice for Kelowna with his second goal into an empty net.

The Rockets finished the night 2-3 on the power play while Calgary went 0-4 with the man advantage.

Paul Postma scored the lone goal Hitmen goal as Calgary outshot Kelowna 28-21.

The best-of-seven series resumes Saturday night in Calgary with Game 2.

Game time is 7:00 p.m. at the Pengrowth Saddledome
