Rockets misfire in Montreal

MONTREAL, OCTOBER 20, 2010 - Prince Edward Island strolled into the Verdun Auditorium at the wrong time as the Juniors were eagerly awaiting the opportunity to bounce back from their heartbreaking Sunday loss to Val D'Or, and as such, romped the visiting Rockets 5-2 on Wednesday night.
With the win, Montreal's record improved to 8-3-2-1.
With end to end action dominating the first period, the Juniors got to the scoreboard early and often as only five minutes in, Eliezer Sherbatov capitalized on a turnover in the attacking zone to nail home his first goal of the season. Less than five minutes later, captain Nicolas Chouinard also found the score sheet with his eighth goal of the year. While the Rockets had their share of chances, it was Denis Kindl's wicked wrist shot which put the momentum squarely in Montreal's corner with a 3-0 lead.
Although the momentum was squarely on the Juniors side at the break, only P.E.I.'s Andrej Nestrasil found the score sheet first in the second period, cutting Montreal's lead to two goals.
Clutch goaltending on both ends of the rink dominated the third period. Having rebounded from a disastrous first period, P.E.I's Evan Mosher's timely saves kept the Rockets within striking distance for most of the period as he was backed up by Andrej Nestrasil's second goal of the game which to cut Montreal's lead to one. Montreal's pressure finally caught up to Mosher as Jeremy Gouchie found the back of the net with his third goal of the year. He would later add an empty net marker to ice the game and send the Rockets fluttering back to earth.
Montreal takes to the road for a three game stint beginning with a contest at Victoriaville tomorrow, Drummondville on Sunday and Baie-Comeau on Friday, October 29th.They are back in action at home on Friday, November 5th at 7:05 P.M. when they will host the Quebec Ramparts at the Verdun Auditorium.
