Kelowna Rockets News Release

The Western Hockey League announced today that Kelowna Rockets forward Dillon Dube has been named WHL On the Run Player of the Week for the week ending March 18, 2018.

Dube, who was selected by the Calgary Flames in the second round, 56th overall, of the 2016 NHL Draft recorded seven points (4G-3A) and a plus-five rating in two games this past week as the Rockets closed out their regular season on a five-game winning streak, helping them clinch their seventh B.C. Division title in franchise history.

In their division-clinching game Wednesday at Prospera Place against the Prince George Cougars, Dube recorded a pair of goals and three points in the Rockets' 6-3 victory, scoring Kelowna's second and fourth goals at even strength. He also recorded a primary assist on Kelowna's third goal. Playing in the Rockets' home and season finale Saturday against the Vancouver Giants, Dube recorded a pair of goals and four points in an 8-1 victory. Dube scored Kelowna's third and sixth goals in the game, picking up one primary and one secondary assist as well. Saturday's efforts were good enough to earn first star honours in the game.

Overall, six of Dube's seven points this week came at even-strength with just a lone assist coming on the power play. The strong performances helped Dube end his career season on a high, with 84 points (38G-46A) in 53 games. Dube has added nine power-play goals, three short-handed goals and seven game-winning goals, setting career-highs those three figures as well. Earlier this year, Dube represented Canada on the international stage at the 2018 IIHF World Junior Championship, serving as the captain for Canada's gold medal-winning squad. He also captained Team WHL at the 2017 CIBC Canada Russia Series.

The 5-foot-11, 186-pound product of Cochrane, Alta. was originally selected by the Rockets in the first round, 21stoverall, of the 2013 WHL Bantam Draft. Since then, Dube has tallied 232 points (101G-131A) in 203 WHL regular season games. The 19-year-old has also tallied 26 power-play goals, three short-handed goals and 20 game-winning goals in his WHL career.

Dube's victory marked the sixth time the WHL On the Run Player of the Week came from the B.C. Division. Overall, the East Division has captured the award 10 times while the U.S. Division earned six of the honours and the Central Division earned the award on three occasions.

It's been a week of awards for Dube, as he received the President's Award at the 2018 Kelowna Rockets Awards Ceremony on Sunday afternoon. More info: http://bit.ly/2u3Rpo6
