Rocket Shutout Mooseheads 3-0 on Pink Out the Rink Night

Behind the shutout goaltending of first star Evan Mosher, the Rocket earned a 3-0 victory over divisional rival Halifax Mooseheads on Pink Out The Rink Night.

Felipe Corbo opened the scoring in the first period for the Rocket with a slapshot from just outside the slot. Assists went to Rocket Captain, Travis McIsaac and defenseman Jean-Laurence Beauchemin. Later in the 1st period, the Rocket upped the lead when Matthew Hobbs scored a power play goal on a great pass from Andrej Nestrasil. Samuel Morneau was also credited with an assist. The Rocket outshot the Mooseheads 11-7 in a very entertaining period.

The second period was a much tighter checking period with very little room to move. The Rocket got the lone goal of the 2nd period when Travis McIsaac stole the puck from a Moosehead defenseman and made a quick pass to Samuel Morneau who found the back of the net on a beautiful one timer. With 2 power plays in the period, the Mooseheads had the edge in shots, outshooting the Rocket 13-7 in the period. Rocket Goaltender Evan Mosher was tested numerous times but answered the call each time.

The third period was scoreless, resulting in the 3-0 victory. The Mooseheads outshot the Rocket 8-6 in the final 20 minutes for a slight edge in the game of 28-24.

1st Star was Evan Mosher (shutout, 28 saves), 2nd Star was Travis McIsaac (2 Assists) and 3rd Star was Samuel Morneau (1 Goal and 1 Assist).

Attendance for the game was 1,952.

At the end of the game, the Rocket held a special on-ice ceremony where all game worn pink jerseys were given to some very lucky Rocket Fans. The game was in support of breast cancer awareness and research. All players lined up on the blue line at the end of the game and provided their jerseys to some very lucky fans whose tickets were drawn from all tickets sold. All jerseys were raffled off with proceeds going to the CIBC Run For The Cure. When all of the figures were tallied, the total funds raised were in excess of $6,500.00.
