Take 5 with Lewy's Legion - Game Night

Lewiston MAINEiacs News Release
He might be a rookie this year, but Dillon Fournier's calm and purposeful presence on the ice makes him seem a lot less green. Dillon says he has to make on-ice decisions much more quickly in the Q, but he was ready to bring his game up to this level. Part of his awareness and poise may come from having older brother and veteran MAINEiac Stefan Fournier on the team. Dillon says there haven't been many surprises about his experience in the league or in Lewiston, and that Stefan was spot on when prepping him about living away from home, knowing teammates, and knowing coaches. Dillon notes it helps he's been friends for a long time with some of the other players. When asked about past MAINEiacs he knows, Stefan Chaput comes to mind, and Dillon - even though he doesn't know the St. Louis goalie, quickly adds you have to notice (Jaroslav) Halak.
Being friends with the other guys doesn't get Dillon out of rookie responsibilities, though. He still has to pick up pucks, double up on the bus (where he and Chris Lalonde watch The OC and even hook the coaches' interest in the plot), and get all the gear on the bus after a road game. When asked how Stefan ended up carrying crates of water bottles to the bus in Baie-Comeau, Dillon admits he sometimes asks his brother for help. "It's harder to say no to your brother," Dillon explains, and he thanks Stefan for making his rookie role a bit easier.
In addition to Stefan, Dillon has a billet brother in Sam Finn. They're always hanging out, and their billets take good care of them. Of his billet parents, Dillon sincerely says "They're great! You couldn't ask for better."
Elaine Hemenway's chicken parm is Dillon's favorite meal, and Elaine knows just how much spice Dillon and Sam each prefer. It undeniably helps that Gary and Elaine Hemenway have two grown sons of their own. Their desire to see their MAINEiacs sons succeed in hockey and in life is genuine.
Of course Dillon has his own family back in the greater Montreal area, and he's looking forward to seeing them during the next road trip. His dad was in Lewiston earlier this fall, and his mom more recently made the trip. His younger brother - he also plays hockey - has yet to make it here, but his sister - who was tired of spending time at the rink and swims - has been here twice. Dillon does miss his 3 dogs (2 Afghan hounds and a cocker spaniel), but he hasn't yet convinced the Hemenways they need a dog.
Outside the rink, you'll find Dillon doing university course work (English classes are his favorite), at the gym before practice, catching a nap, or playing video games. On the ice, we're glad to have him! Welcome to the MAINEiacs Dillon!
-Many thanks to Dillon, Gary & Elaine, and Sam for sharing their home and time. A special thank you to Stefan Fournier for waiting to resume his video game with Dillon, while we did this interview! by Sarah Alto
