Rocket City Blasts Past Columbus in 7-3 Loss

COLUMBUS, GA., - An ambush home run on the first pitch in the bottom of the first from Patrick Clohisy shot the Columbus Clingstones (18-20, 44-60) out to an early lead but the Rocket City Trash Pandas (12-26, 36-70) slugged their way to the lead and handed Columbus a 7-3 loss on Friday night at Synovus Park.

Decisive Plays: A solo home run from Clohisy (1) gave Columbus an early 1-0 lead. Rocket City tied the game with a solo home run from Matt Coutney in the fourth inning. The Pandas took the lead in the fifth inning with an RBI single from Ryan Nicholson. A three-run sixth inning gave Rocket City a 5-1 lead. Columbus rallied in the eighth inning with RBI singles from Adam Zebrowski and Drew Compton. The Pandas put the game away with a pair of home runs from Nicholson and Oscar Colas in the ninth.

Key Contributors: Clohisy (3-for-4, HR, RBI), Compton (2-for-4, 2B, RBI) and Jim Jarvis (2-for-5, 2B) supplied the offense for Columbus. For Rocket City, Nicholson (3-for-5, HR, 2 RBI) broke out while Coutney and Colas also homered. Trash Pandas' starter Sam Aldegheri (7.0 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 6 SO) turned in a quality start.

Notable: Clohisy recorded the first leadoff home run in Clingstones history, and his first career Double-A home run. He becomes the sixth different player to collect his first career Double-A home run with Columbus this season. Columbus saw its five-game winning streak snapped, tied for the longest this season. Kevin Kilpatrick Jr. extended his on-base streak to 16 games, the highest on the club this season.
