
Rockers Split Double-Header vs. Chinooks

Ashwaubenon, Wis. - The Green Bay Rockers split the first of two doubleheaders this year against the Lakeshore Chinooks on Thursday.
Lakeshore won the first game, 17-11. Green Bay scored first in the first on a sacrifice fly by Keniel de Leon.
In the fourth, Lakeshore scored four times, including on a two-run homer by outfielder Jack Firestone. Chase Hudson cut the lead to 4-2 with a solo shot, his first home run of 2022.
The Chinooks scored once in the fifth on a home run by Matthias Haas, then six in the sixth. Aiden Longwell and Matthew Deprey each hit three-run homers in the frame. In the eighth, Haas hit a two-run single, and in the ninth, Lakeshore added four more on three hits.
The score entering the bottom of the ninth was 17-2. Green Bay scored nine times in the ninth, eight of those nine runs scoring with two outs. Keniel de Leon hit two home runs in the inning, including a grand slam. The Chinooks brought in Zach Carlsen to get the game's final out.
In Game 2, Green Bay once again scored in the first inning. Tristin Garcia hit an infield single to knock home Brendan Ryan.
In the third, two more Rockers came across. Owen Jackson, in his debut, knocked in Collier Cranford, and Griffin Stevens scored on a Matt Scannell hit.
Green Bay had a big fourth inning. They scored four times, all with two outs. Brendan Ryan hit a solo homer, Griffin Stevens hit an RBI single, and Owen Jackson hit a two-run homer.
The only Lakeshore run came in the sixth on a Stephen Hrustich single.
Justin Loer pitched six fine innings. He allowed five hits, one earned run, and four walks. He struck out eight in the effort. Chase Pelter sealed the 7-1 win and earned a three-inning save for his first of 2022.
The Rockers are on the road for the next five games. They will start the roadtrip Friday night in Rockford. Michael Fowler, from LSU, will make his first start as a Rocker.
