Rock Cats Add Major League Veteran

New Britain, CT- The New Britain Rock Cats Baseball Club, the Double-A Eastern League Affiliate of the Minnesota Twins, has announced that RHP Matt Guerrier has been assigned to the club. Guerrier has spent the past ten seasons in the Major Leagues and was re-signed by the Twins in January and began this year on Triple-A Rochester's disabled list. He entered the 2014 season ranking 8th in Major League Appearances for a right-handed pitcher since 2007 with 437.

Guerrier, 35, pitched the last three seasons for the Los Angles Dodgers before getting traded to the Chicago Cubs in July. The right-handed reliever played 7 years for the Minnesota Twins (2004-2010) and ranks 5th in club history with 393 appearances. He pitched four games for the Rock Cats on a Major League rehabilitation assignment in 2006, going 2-0 with a 1.04 ERA. Guerrier is 27-34 with 6 saves and 3.51 ERA in 528 outings (3 starts) in the majors from 2004-2013.

In addition to adding Guerrier, the Twins transferred RHP B.J. Hermsen to Extended Spring Training. The Rock Cats roster is full at 25 active players.

The Rock Cats continue their road trip tonight in New Hampshire with the first of three against the Fisher Cats (Toronto-AL). The broadcast can be heard on AM 1150 (WMRD and AM 1420 (WLIS) and on-line at foxsportsradio1410.com. New Britain begins its second homestand of the season on Thursday night as they take on the Red Sox farm club, the Portland Sea Dogs at 6:35 PM.
