LOW TIDES: The Rochester Red Wings tonight play the 2nd game of their 4-game series at Norfolk (Orioles), continuing an 8-game roadtrip that also includes a 4-game set at Durham (Rays) Friday-Monday. The Red Wings began the trip last night with an 11-4 loss along the Elizabeth River. Rochester returns to Frontier Field next Tuesday for a brief 4-game homestand against International League North Division rival Syracuse (Nationals).

a The Red Wings are one game into a stretch of playing 16 of 20 games on the road through August 5. Rochester will, however, play 18 of its final 29 games at Frontier Field beginning August 6.

a The Wings are 5 games into a stretch of playing 20 of 24 games through August 5 against teams outside of the IL North Division.

CAN'T LIE ABOUT JULY: The Red Wings yesterday lost for the first time in 5 games and for only the 2nd time in their last 10 contests. They are still 10-4 in July, a half game behind Norfolk for the best record in the IL during the month. The Top 5 teams in July:

The Red Wings are off to their best 96-game start since the 2009 club went an identical 47-49. That club went on to lose its next 2 games, so a win tonight would give the Wings their best 97-game start since 2007, when they were 51-46. In fact, that was just the 4th series win for the Wings at Harbor Park since it opened in 1993. Rochester swept a pair of 2-game series here June 7-8 and September 2 (DH), 1993 and then took 2 of 3 April 29-30, 1997.

FOUR!!: The Red Wings have scored 4 or more runs in a season-high 5 straight games, accomplishing the feat for the first time since a 5-game streak August 29-September 3, 2011. Rochester last scored 4 runs or more in at least 6 straight games July 8-17, 2010, when they put together a 7-game streak.

a The Red Wings are batting just .226 (14-for-62) with runners in scoring position in the last 5 games, including a 1-for-9 effort last night. Rochester had a resounding 20 at-bats with men in scoring position in Sunday's 8-7 win vs. Toledo (Tigers), but had only 4 hits.

a Liam Hendriks and Nick Blackburn are the only Red Wings' starters who have posted wins in the club's last 19 games beginning June 26. The last Rochester starter other than this duo to register a win is Cole De Vries, who on June 25 defeated Charlotte at Frontier Field.

HELLO, MY NAME IS...: Outfielder Evan Bigley yesterday became the 48th player to appear in a game for the Red Wings. That total includes 23 position players and 25 pitchers. Bigley is the 13th player promoted from Double-A New Britain, the 4th position player. Rochester last year employed the services of 56 players, including 28 position players and 28 pitchers.

a Bigley is the 12th outfielder used by manager Gene Glynn, the 6th different right fielder.
